Series 3 Incense was launched in 2002 and was devoted to the five main spiritual teachings of the humanity: Zagorsk presents Eastern Orthodoxy. It is named after the Russian city that was, until today, one of the influential Orthodox-Christian places of Russia. Zagorsk is named after a monastery which was built around the 14th century -a Russian holy spot. The symbolism of incense in the liturgy is essentially the same as it is in the Catholic Church: it represents purification, an offering, and the rising of prayers to heaven.
Zagorsk opens with a surge of crisp pine balsam but it is short lived. It is then joined by prominent notes of cedar and birch. The wood notes are softened by velvety iris and a very light floral sweetness of violet with the base notes of Russia's famous birch wood. A touch of green and clear scent with a hint of subdued tones!
Notes: White frankincense, pine tree, red hot chilly pepper, violet, cedar, iris, Hinoki cypress and birch.
