The plumeria, or frangipani, is native to Peru and has extremely fragrant white flowers. It is also common in Southeast Asia where it is known as the temple tree since it is cultivated around Hindu temples. Every perfumer has his own secret interpretation and formula for a frangipani fragrance inspired by the original formula which was named after its inventor, a member of the ancient Frangipane family of Rome.
